How does the yu gi oh card light laser work?

Can someone give me an idea on how the yu gi oh card light laser works? i know it removes from play any monster that battles it, but is it after battle like before the end phase or what? can someone help me understand it better. thanks =/

it's after the dameg step wether your monster win or looses the battle i use that card!! ^_^

its an equip card so you equip it to one of your monsters and it keeps the card forever unless the monster is destroyed or the the equip card is destroyed
