  1. mmmm Sam you must not remember Celtish's before he went on a PC BS Equalist campaign.

Prior to all that, a few months ago.  He was nothing but a hateful sexist troll.

looks like same old same, celtish comment to me.

Edit: ok looked at it again....and again..the man's fist is balled up, not open.  you dont hug friends or reach out in friendship with a closed fist.   he hits her.

  2. Maybe I didn't get the joke, but didn't the cartoon guy punch the cartoon woman for saying no to s*x? That's not really funny.

  3. Well it doesn't, it depicts a woman that is being accosted....the other bit about women=evil didn't really bother me though.....women make the world go round and most people know it.

Baba yaga has a point: it actually shows how animalistic and cruel some men are (rape, abuse etc...)

  4. Maybe he went to the wrong link. That is the only explanation I can think of. A woman says no to s*x because she has been taught to hate and fear men? Bizarre. I thought I said no cos I didn't fancy them, it was too soon, I was tired, I had a boyfriend....etc etc etc.

Otherwise he is clearly a few sandwiches short of a picnic basket.

  5. Keep in mind not all men are like this.

Its particularily bad in America because most women have become the victim of hollywood brain washing.

Most women who watch Hollywood films are under the influence the men portrayed in them are almost Gods.

Hence creating a enviroment in America where the men have tremendously swelled egos and impatient tempers as well.

Try traveling abroad, in some cultures women are overly spoiled and its the opposite as here in America.

  6. I guess it does depend on the way you interpret it... but it looks to me like a man punching a woman because she said no to s*x. I didn't really find it funny.

  7. this is humor, although very dark, it is, and it takes an open minded sense of humour to apreciate it. I don't think the creator had any bad intentions when making this strip, we know it happens, we know its bad, but by drawing it to an extreme and ironic point, you find it amusing if you have an open mind.

  8. I wasn't taught to hate or fear men, that is sick humor that was probably made by a man who was taught to hate woman!!

  9. I'm not quite sure how to take that cartoon when you see it out of context like that. It's obviously not meant to be funny.

On the one hand you can see it as a vilifying stereo type of male oppression, on the other hand, it's a graphic view of how many women really are treated by men.

  10. What a bizarre cartoon and response.

  11. well... I agree that the "humor" in question, really isn't that funny and shouldn't be applied to any sort of realistic gender discussion. If I were a stand up guy I would be more offended then I am as a women... they are meant for a cheap laugh, kinda like a B rated spoof movie... shock comedy at its finest!

  12. It'd be nice to see where that cartoon came from.  It seems to me like something that is making a point about domestic violence, but it's impossible to tell.  In that case, it could be seen as teaching women to fear men.

Is it offensive?  Yes, although that could be the intention (as many public awareness campaigns are).  But I find it hard to get too worked up about it.  I guess I've been indoctrinated by seeing too many instances of women beating men presented as funny.

  13. Fear, yes...hate, no.

  14. Thank you for the opportunity to reply.

I beg to differ with your interpretation of that cartoon. I do not believe that the man was "punching" that woman. He was just outstretching his arm for whatever reason perhaps as the gesture of friendship. I certainly do not believe that he was retaliating because she said 'no' to s*x. A man wouldn't react that way.

However, it is the next frame that is really interesting. She has fallen back, implying that she had either fainted or found the man repulsive as though he were a leper and, either way, it would have to be because she had been taught by propagandists to fear and hate men.

Nevertheless, that cartoon is completely ambiguous not to say silly and divisive. And that is my sincere belief.

Perhaps we each see in that cartoon what we WANT to see? It is sad that men and women just can't get along with one another instead of recriminating all the time.

  15. "Try traveling abroad, in some cultures women are OVERLY SPOILED and its the opposite as here in America'

How is that the opposite of America?

  16. It doesn't, of course.  He was just being silly.

It's not PC to say this, but I got the (very ironic) humor in it.

  17. ... I don't really get Celtish's answer. I get the cartoon, although it's not particularly hilarious. And there are jokes at the expense of men too, so I don't the the point of the original question. However, that answer is particularly off the wall.
