How does this make you feel babysitting/friends? ?

Do you hate it when you think you have "friends" and they are always asking you to watch their kids? For free all the time, and then get mad at you if you say no?

Or even when you just meet someone and a week later you get the phone call " I have an emergency!!! My nail broke can you watch my kid for a while"

I mean for a friend in an extreme emergency I will watch their kid no problem, but I believe a friend is the option you take when you have no one else babysitter/husband, I don't want my friend to feel like my free babysitter?

What do you think?

I have 2 kids and that's enough for me.

  1. that would really irritate me. I would probably tell them that you don't mind watching them for absolute emergencies, but other then that you're hands are full with your own kids and would enjoy some pay for your services or that they should hire an actual babysitter.

  2. My neighbor did that, we tried a baby sitting swap, and the stay at home mom was calling me at least 2x a week (i'm gone two days a week) to watch the kid for an hour here and there, which was fine until they started doing it more and then leaving her for 3 hours with not enough food or diapers.  My daughter had a nanny 2x a week so we had someone to call if we wanted to go out, and I only used them a couple of times and then it got horrible, I just stopped talking to them, only when I run into them accidentally.  They would call and I would be like well I have plans to take the baby to the zoo, sea world, or baby gym sorry, or we already have a play date.  Try that
