before i go to bed i wash my face with T-zone facial wash (Very good i recommend it) then i use clean and clear blackhead remover, then i add Nivea control shine moisturiser

Are all these different brands of products bad for stripping away my natural oils in my face?

It works for clearing my face but is it bad for stripping my natural oils?

Thanks :)

  1. These are not harsh products which are ok to use on a daily basis.  If you experience any drying or any other issues on your face after you wash i would recommend maybe using them every other day instead of daily.

  2. Everybody's skin is very different and you have to experiment with what works best for you. If you find your skin is clear and doesn't feel too dry then probably what you're doing is fine. T-zone is not as natural as you might think. Read the ingredients list on the back of your skin care products and see if you still want to use them, think just how many chemicals you're applying to your skin every day. If you're not happy with your skin try some of the things i list below.

If you have oily or combination skin then t-tree oil is a natural ingredient that will help but i would advice using it too much as it does dry the skin. For me personally natural products are better for the skin and in the long run give the best results.  Rather than t-zone maybe try

something from Lush cosmetics or body shop. The t-tree products from body shop are great.

Clean and clear blackhead remover is quite a harsh product in my opinion and to combine that with t-zone facial wash especially on a daily basis is very likely to strip the skin of its natural oils. You may find that it does clear your skin of spots as its stripping the oils but when you do this it encourages the skin to procuce more oil because it worries that there isn't enough. This can also lead to enlarged pores...I learnt the hard way! A shine control moisturiser is a very good idea too but again natural ingredients for me are better than chemicals.

Have a look at www.espaonline.com i had a facial and the beautician used espa products and my face felt amazing for the next few days. I have since bought the foaming cleanser and i couldn't recommend it more. It is pricey but it lasts a lot longer than high street products. Use that to cleanse morning and night and instead of your blackhead remover try a mineral mask twice a week instead. You can also get a face brush from the body shop it looks like a big round toothbrush. Use gentle circular movements in places like forehead, nose and chin to help lift dead skin cells and help with blackheads. This will have the same effect as an exfoliater but means you don't need to use yet another product on your skin. The balancing oil from Espa is also a great option but don't use it before you go out. You might appear shiny after first use but in the long run it balances the amount of oil your skin produces without stripping.

All these steps will help keep your skin clear but balanced with the right amount of oil being produced in order to keep your skin soft moistureised and beautifully clear :-D All this is only my opinion and as I said different things work for different people.

    Hope that helps,

    Mariam.
