    Anyone who tells you it does has been drinking Al Gore's kool-aide.


  2. It doesn't, unless the light you're turning on happens to be the Sun.

  3. It's not as simple as turning on one light.  Because not just one light contributes to global warming, sure it adds to it.  But think if everyone in the world with access to electricity never turned off their lights.  The power supply would be sure to break down some time or another.

  4. when you turn on a light, you join the billions of lights that are on at any minute on earth, and every light requires a little energy, but altogether these require staggering amounts of energy.

    Most of the energy is brought out from where it lay buried for millions of years in the rocks of earth, and these materials, which are called fossil fuels, are slowly reverting the state of earth atmosphere back to the state it was before life appeared on earth.

  5. because you are using electricity which was produced by burning coal which puts out pollutants that contribute to global warming.

    not our fault though. the government should put more effort into alternative energy sources
