Obviously American Idol has convinced a lot of people that crappy music is better than good music.

I believe in general that people are not leaders. Therefore, having a medium (TV, Movies, etc.) that presents a specific side or opinion, forces mainstream society into certain behavior patterns by pure saturation.  It is a daily inundation with Program Directors opinions (in the case of TV and Radio).

Television is the worst offender on influencing people.  Most people leave their tvs on just about non-stop and the programing is getting more and more about s*x and violence which definately influences young kids.  News channels influence us by telling us what they want us to hear about certain people and telling us how to vote and it takes brain-power to sort through all the nonsense and figure out what is truth and what is spin.

Most of the time, television, movie watchers, and music listeners are what you would call rich. Not everyone is in the poor house, but they don't have the wealth of the 10% of the richest people in America.

With this being said, it all boils down to what we want to be. Our fantasy life. Who we want to be with and how to get there through the least painful way.

Although I adore the show Boston Legal and would LOVE to be an attorney at a firm like that, I know that in reality it doesn't exist.

In the full spectrum of things, it gives us an out of the everyday and let's us have a taste of what if?
