How does urban water use affect the water quality?

Well, something that I have just recently learned by watching my local news station, water that is sent via gutters , does not get properly processed and subsuquently ends up in the bay or other water drainage systems that are not purified or treated.

On the other side of all of this. Water that we flush , goes into a very different place. Therefore it does get treated for bacteria and such. We re utilise our resourses in this way according to our drainage system.
