I feel really stupid but I've never done self check in before. I put my bag on the scale and did the little check in on the screen and it said I was done but I didn't see a tag print out to put on it and there was no one to ask nearby. is my stuff gonna get there? lol

  1. After you check in and your bag tag prints (behind the counter) you have to wait for the representative to tag your bag.  This is because he/she needs to see your ID to match your bag to you.

If there's no match, the odds are slim to none that the bag will actually be loaded on the plane.  This is because of TSA security restrictions.

Call US Airways if your bag doesn't arrive at your destination, explain this to them, and see if they still have your bag at your original airport.

    Good luck!

  2. If you use a travel agency when booking flights or vacations you could save yourself the trouble figuring it out yourself.  This is why I suggest not using the internet.  In most cases it would cost little to nothing more to do this.  You're not stupid, just silly for not doing it the easy way.

  3. Unfortunately, probably not.    What typically happens at the self service kiosk (I gather that's where you did 'the little check in on the screen) is that you are asked for the number of pieces of checked luggage.     The luggage tags are printed out behind the counter and an agent will call out the name on the tag.   Once you identify your luggage, the agent will then tag it for you.   IF you have your own luggage tag on your suitcase with your name and address, there is the slight possibility that someone coming along will match it up with the tag hanging out of the machine.    Sorry that I don't have a better post for you.

  4. *****Yes, the vast majority of the bags make it!  Never fear.  Self-check in is probably one of the easiest ways to check in.  We've never NOT had a bag make it when we've checked in this way.  . . . .and I fly almost monthly.

  5. Usually the little tag that prints out when you check in is the boarding pass. The person that works there should be the person to put the tag on your bag. Best thing to do is to call them to track your luggage.
