Question:

How does using an EBAY trading assistant work?

I "hired" an EBAY trading assistant to hep me sell some things from my mom's estate. When she picked up the items, I asked her what they would reasonably sell for. She said, "You set the price." Then she added that she gets a 30% commission plus the costs of posting, and several other fees. So I almost had to double the asking price to get what I wanted out of the sale. I received a call from her this week whining that nothing sold. Then she "implied" that I had set my prices too high. I said I would pick up the items. Then she offered to "hold" the items for me with the idea of posting again sometime, but it would cost me $5 a month if she stored them. She seems evasive and not totally truthful and I feel like I'm on a Mobius strip with her over these items. She says I set the price, when I do then she says it's too high, then I say what SHOULD I ask. Then she says "It's up to you." What would you do?

  1. Put yourself in her place. She using her time to come to your house. Then lugs it back to her house. She has to look it over, research it, take photos and post it on ebay. She has time, travel and money invested now. She cannot tell you what to ask for something, but you should know you are not going to get  on ebay what an antique could at an auction or private sale. You set your prices like what you'd see on "Roadshow", you're probably not going to even get a low-ball bid. Now - no bids, no sale, time and money invested on her part. How would YOU feel?
