  1. I believe that's a myth.

  2. CRT's or cathode ray tubes(glass TV's and computer monitors) can be taxing on the vision system which can increase the closer we get to them. They encourage incorrect vision habits. These incorrect vision habits like squinting, staring, and diffusion can squeeze our eyes out of shape and give us blurry vision. If we recognize the incorrect vision habits and avoid them and practice the correct vision behaviors, CRT's and even reading fine print in dim light will have very little effect on us.

Note: LCD Screens seem to be a little easier on the eyes.

  3. Simple:  Your eyes get tired and work harder

Medium:  the TV/computer actually sends "frames" which make for a moving picture, or refresh of the screen.  Watching a television is like watching 29 pictures every second.  The nerves in your eyes have to work to put that picture together to give the illusion of something moving.  Add that to the fact that your eyes are trying to focus... and your eyes get real tired.  People who work on computers for long period of times sometimes get headaches..... definately not a good thing.
