  1. Water is the basis of EVERYTHING. The Earth is composed of exactly 71.0%-72.0%/100.0% of water. Rain itself is the purest form of water to have yet been found anywhere. Water is the middle-ground of ice & steam.

  2. ahahaha, im actually answering that question for biology 1 right now. thanks for asking that question :D

and idk. good luck though. water is the greatest solvent on earth!!

  3. Water, as you should know, is H2O. It can also be written HOH. It can also be named hydrogen hydroxide. The "how" of your question is that in any reation with water, the HOH is literally ripped apart. Water, in most reactions is THE source of the energetic ions H+ and OH-.

  4. im doing that exact question too

  5. think of the most basic of examples..... NaCl which is table salt..... when you drop salt into a cup of water and stir it the salt dissapears, or atleast it is no longer in those small granuals. So what happens to it? well.... assuming you have a little understanding about chemistry, a water molecule is made up of 2 hydrogen atoms bonded to 1 oxygen.... now oxygen is a very "electronegative" element, meaning that when it bonds to something that is smaller (such as a hydrogen which is the smallest element) than it overpowers it for its electrons. Thus, you can think of oxygen as a "magnet" for electrons..... this creates a Negative oxygen and a possitive Hydrogen in a water molecule (dipole).

Well... back to what this has to do with forming ions, Na is always a cation which is positive, and Cl is an anion which is negative, so opposites attract and so when the NaCl is in the water it breaks up the postive Na (which is attracted to the negative Oxygen in water) and the negative Cl (which is attracted to the positive hydrogen atoms). and thus you have created these salt ions through a process known as hydrogen bonding.
