How does western union work..?

my friend wants to send me some money through it but i dont have one and im not really sure how it works, can anyone explain

you don't need anything.

you give them your full name, date of birth and city/country.

they then make the transaction and give you the MTCN and the amount you should receive.

you go to whatever Western Union is nearest to you and bring a valid form of ID; you then quote the agent the MTCN code and provide the ID; they then get you to fill a form denoting your address, amount expected to receive etc.

they then process it and hand you cash.
