Is it like having a wireless router in public? Do you need to have an ISP account? Can you just switch on your laptop and get immediate web access or is there a lot of configuring involved?

  1. Wi-Fi is where you have some kind of internet connection that comes into a router that makes it available.  You need to have an ISP.  Once the ISP is configured and connected to the router, and wireless is configured on the router and the laptop, it is as easy as opening your laptop and you'll be online.

  2. You don't need to have an account.  You go out into the wild and scan for new networks and connect to one that isn't secured.  Not a lot of configuration is required other than scanning for new signal.

  3. It depends whether its public WiFi or WiFi at home. Obv if its at home yes your going to need an ISP.

If you have WiFi built into your laptop then yes its easy to connect; just select the wireless router and your off.

Check your ISPs website out for more info.
