How does yahoo groups search work?

It consistently turns up groups with fewer members and fewer posts ahead of active well populated groups - and the better groups often have the same number or more keyword hits.

  1. yahoo has been messing around with some sub categories- mine is one of them. I think they're doing this due to complaints that the higher membered groups always listed first, and then the loer membered groups never are seen.

  2. The most recently opened groups tend to be at the top of the list depending on how many groups are listed for a particular category.  If it's a popular category the search listings can bring up thousands of results.

I would also recommend letting a Yahoo Groups customer service representative as well just in case there is a glitch that could be causing this.
