  1. What makes my community's streetscape unique is that it is the oldest city in San Diego county and it's very name means "hidden valley" because it is surrounded by steep hills.  The downtown section is mainly old buildings which comprised the "old town" or the original setting for the city.  The homes in this area are historic and represent the original architecture of southern CA.  The streets are all named after trees and are configured in a simple grid pattern.  The section in which I live used to be completely citrus and avocado farms and there are still many operating in the hills above my canyon.  The most unique feature in my little city is the wildlife preserve which is 3,000 acres of unfenced rugged land on which it is not uncommon to see bobcats, coyotes and mountain lions.  It was originally a dairy farm and the old farmhouses and barns remain on the property.  How I can tell I am home is when I turn the corner into my canyon it is not uncommon to encounter a coyote sauntering up the street or to hear them howl in the distance.
