And i am near sighted ( i cant see far away)

How did this happen? I know like that my lens doesnt get thinner and stuff and i wear contacts and glasses now but i just dont know how i got such a bad eye sight far away

Is it form the technology? Genetics? Or what?

  1. There is a good chance you will have nearsightedness if both your parents have it.  A lot of people become nearsighted at about your age because of the increase in more intense schoolwork.  It appears that some people have a genetic predisposition to develop nearsightedness and under the right circumstances (intense near work), they will.

Television and computer screens don't really affect your vision because they are usually used at an intermediate distance.  They can cause eyestrain or fatigue, though.

  2. You might have Astigmatism. I don't know, go to the Eye doctors and ask them. Good question.

  3. Do your parents or grandparents wear glasses? If so, it could be genetics. This is unavoidable.

My eyes started turning poor too when I was around your grade (I'm in Year 11 now) and it has went up a lot since.

Technology can be the cause if you overuse them without giving your eyes a break. Ever noticed many people who work in the IT industry or with computers wear glasses? Since their eyes are always used up-close, they are strained easily, hence, can lead to poor vision.

There's not much you can do to stop your vision changing until you're around 18-20 which will then slow down. Until then, the best you can do will be to take breaks every hour from the computer, reading or anything which involves the eyes for 15 minutes. Also, do not work in the dark or poorly lit places.

  4. itz mostly genetics

but we can always prevent it by not usin too much comp, seein tv and stuff

  5. Well, at first, some believed that bad eyesight came from staring at things like a TV or computer screen too much. Like the rays they gave off damaged the eyes.

But recently, I got a new eye doctor who believes that bad eyesight is due to genetics. Because both my mom's and my dad's family have both been known for getting bad eyesight, this does explain why my eyes have been going bad as well. It also explains how when I stopped going on the computer and watching to TV to make sure my eyes didn't get worse, they still did. Now I have some pretty thick lens and I think I might have to get another prescription because some things far away are becoming blurry.

    I'm also near-sighted. ^^
