  1. I treat everyone at work with kindness and respect.  If people behave inappropriately, I remember that we all have a bad day now and then.  I thank people for what they do.  As a supervisor, I always share the credit and always take the blame.

  2. I feel you can't separate the two.

You carry it with you, and one

    flows into the other.

It's just a matter of balance.

  3. This is a really good question that can make you think about the choices you have in your personal and professional world.

Your personal philosphy can't help but seep through into your professional life. If you are a person of good character in your personal dealings, you'll likely behave the same in your professional decison making. Making ethical decisons in the face of a world which doesn't always do so, can take courage, but if you have practice behaving ethically, for instance, in your personal life, and you have been reinforced to do so by your parents and teachers along the way, it becomes second nature, and you won't think twice before making decisions that require it.

One of  my favorite quotes comes from the developer of a program for kids called Character Counts: "People of Character do the right thing, not because they think they can change the world, but because they refuse to be changed BY the world. "

I think That really says a lot.

Like anything else though, it is always a choice. How you respond to situations can require courage, but courage is a muscle, in my mind, and once you take the first step, just like starting a weight training regimen, it gets easier, and the muscle gets stronger.

  4. One and the same thing.  The boss would like some professional philosophy, but I'll only willing to give him, mine.

    Peace.
