Question:

How dose the nikon d40 auto focus?

i just got a new nikon d40 and i would LOVE to know how to make the camera focus without it being blurry

i unfortunutly LOST my guide so help is needed thanks !

  1. Here's the manual in PDF form.

    Download it and save as a reference.

    Your lens needs to be an AF-S or AF-I lens.  Otherwise, you won't be able to autofocus.  If the lenses has an A-M or M/A-M switch, select A or M/A.

    Now press the shutter button halfway to focus and keep it pressed if you want to lock that focus.  If you locked focus, recompose and press the shutter button fully.


  2. look at the front and you should see a switch. it will say af, mf click it do af and just barely hold down the button and it should auto focous

  3. On the left side of the lens there is a little switch that says A-M, make sure you move towards the A for auto focus, M is manual.
