  1. The verb "to burn" in Japanese is "yaku" (焼く). This is used to refer to something that has actually been applied with heat.

    For eyes, however, literal fire isn't actually applied in this context. Rather, it means "to sting", so for that case, I believe you would use the verb "sasu" (刺す), which also means "to stab" or "to pierce".

    By the way, both verbs are irregular.
