And well, I just wonder why does kids with ADHD need to go to special school, as Autistic ones? I mean, I thought that with ADHD has no effect on development skills as Autistism?

  1. My children were diagnosed 1-2 grade.  My autistic was diagnosed at 2 years old.

I don't understand what u mean by going to a special school.  My children go to a public school with and IEP.(individual education plan).

    Autism is different than ADHD

    ADHD-hyper, hard to concentrate

Autism has a WIDE range of symptoms-some can talk and other cannot.

  2. My son is autistic and goes to a normal school...??? there is a child in his class that the school has asked for him to be evaluated for adhd due to NOT PAYING ATTENTION and being disruptive which causes this child to not learn what is being told and not focusing on thier work. so in a way it is worse then autism cuz at least with certian cases they have aides which can help redirect or remove them from certian situation.

  3. Most schools and doctors try not to diagnose children with ADHD until the are in primary school. ADHD or attention deficit hyperactive disorder is completely different than Austism. If a child is diagnosed with ADHD, they do not need to attend a special school. If you have heard this then they probably have a more significant diangosis as well. A child with ADHD attends regular public school, but can have an IEP depending how it effects their learning. With ADHD the student will have trouble focusing on the task or may need information in smaller doses. Some may have trouble staying calm long enough to get the full lesson. All of this can be addressed with the doctor, the parents, and the school.

    Hope this helps.

  4. There is no reason that a student dx with ADHD needs to attend a special school. Now if there are other diagnosis, or his behavior is very severe (which is possbile), he may be placed into a behavior disorder unit.

If his ADHD affects his school work but doesnt exhibit behaviors, then he can be placed in special ed (under other health impairment), but uncommon.

Or if he needs accoms than you can get him a 504 plan, similar to an IEP but they arent placed in special ed.

  5. Usually a disgnosis of ADD or ADHD is when a child is in first or second grade.  Children with ADD/ADHD do not require special schools, and children with autism do not require special schools unless other, more severe disabilities are present. Each child is different, as are the circumstances surrounding each.  Many of the symptoms of ADHD/ADD are also symptoms of other areas of disability, which makes an accurate diagnosis difficult.

Autism does not necessarily cause difficulties with development skills , if you are referring to development skills as being able to tie shoes and things of that nature.  Autism affects social functioning and adaptability.
