We are deciding to sell the house and consolidate the equity and our savings and move back to South Africa where we will be able to live a retired life. How easily would any of you take that decision.

  1. I would leave the UK tomorrow if I could!! I have never been to SA so not sure about living there, but I would like to move to NZ. Not a hint of doubt, easy decision! Good luck with the move :o)

  2. With difficulty - most of the S Africans I've met think the country is just too dangerous now.

  3. As a SA ex-pat. This would not even come under consideration for me personally. The country is getting worse why would you even consider going back?  If the UK is not the place for you I would still recommend you think very hard before going back. If you can live with the fear, crime, violence and also coping with constant power cuts then sure go back.

  4. It is a big decision. But I do know that SA, even with all of our problems, has much to offer. I know many people from the UK who have come on holiday and fallen so in love with the country they have moved there or at least bought property there (my mom being one of them). If you are South African I'm sure you already know the pros and cons about living there.

We were actually talking about the influx of Brits recently on the Y!A South Africa travel board if you want to check it out or post any questions there. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    Best of luck :-)

  5. Difficult decision but having asked similar a few days ago some say S.A. is getting bad too , but leaving Britain seems the way forward , given the move is a return then you must know the lay of the land .
