How easy/fast is it to take public transit between 30th St. Amtrak station and PHL Airport?

p.s. - I will be traveling with one medium sized duffel and a "suit bag," though don't want to pay cab fares. Do you think this trip is feasible?

It's very fast and very easy. From 30th st station just walk over to the SEPTA R1 Airport line. You just walk over to where the Regional Rails come in and out (anyone can tell you) take the escalator up to the platform, get on , ride for a short time and get off at the airport.

its feasible, it runs every 30 minutes from 5 am until midnight.

Very suitable.  There is the R1 train which runs every 30 mins between the two.  Travel time is about 20 minutes, you can buy tickets right at 30th street.  There is room for luggage.

I think the fare is about $7
