How easy is it to convert HD to Standard Def in Final Cut express?

I will be importing from a HD camcorder. Then I want to convert to standard def.

If you burn your HD footage on a DVD, all the suff is going to be SD no matter what.

Unless you have a BlueRay burner you can't burn HD footage.

Even if you shoot in HD and you have HD footage, if you burn it on a DVD that's going to be SD.

Do you want the data file to be exported as DV or do you want to burn a DVD in DV format?

If video data file, then under File, select Export and use QuickTime conversion...

If you are burning a DVD, iDVD or DVD Studio will downsample to DV for you... nothing special you need to do.

There is an option on my HD camcorder to convert to .DV when importing, or you can use the quicktime conversion and choose one of the presets or alter the export options to your choosing.
