  1. It's hard!  I'm speaking from experience as I currently live here.  Many people don't know that being a barman is actually a really hard and well respected job - different to being a barman in states, UK etc where anyone can do it.  But if you are legally entitled to work in spain it will be easier...

  2. Short answer: It is rather hard - even for Spaniards!

This questions comes up from time to time and I'm not surprised that many people would like to spend their summers this way.

But the hard-and-cold fact is that beach/bar/waiter jobs, if not occupied by Spaniards, are nearly always occupied by Latin Americans working either illegally or legally. But regardless, they're working for less than you'd likely be willing to accept for a wage. And whatever wage they would offer you wouldn't pay for your accommodations on or near the beach in the summertime when room prices double or triple.

It is a plus that you speak Spanish but so do the hard-working Latinos searching for any job they can get and willing to accept next to nothing for that job. It's a sad state of economical affairs but that's the way it is, sorry to say.

  3. it isn't easy full stop. i mean, when we lived in spain, my mum wanted to get a job as an English teacher but after she saw how much they were offering to pay her, she gave up. It's dispicable, and I recommend you to not look for a job there, unless it's working as a banker, cos they are always the rich arrogant b******s with spoilt kids, and they get paid a lot.
