Question:

How easy is it to get a stolen PS3 and games replaced through your homeowners insurance?

I had my PS3, about 7 games, and about 3 Blu-rays stolen from my house a couple of days ago. We have homeowners insurance so I've been hearing that it should be covered. One problem though. I didn't record the serial number and I sent the reciept to a rebate company for this 5 free blu rays offer. Will I still be able to get the stuff covered if I don't have the reciept right now? Has anyone else had to go through insurance to get items like this replaced?

  1. You need to check you deductible on you insurance, and if your policy cover contents inside.  That is an option, and you need to check and see if they cover "replacement cost" or "pro rated age".  If you do not have proof of purchase, your probably out of luck unless it was a "catastrophy" that destroyed everything.

  2. I would not recommend a claim over something that small.  You could hurt yourself in the long run.

  3. Well, yes, but there's a DEDUCTIBLE on teh policy, ya know?  Which will eat up a bunch of the value.   All you need is the credit card statemetns showing the ownership, and the police report.   Or some stores like Best Buy will track what you buy, for you.
