I'm starting my senior year in high school right now, and I will more than likely be attending a small college (about 1000 students) that's about 5 hours away. I don't think anybody from my high school has gone to that college in several years, so it's likely that I won't know anyone there. How easy is it to make friends when you don't know anybody, and what are some good ideas for making friends. I'm thinking of joining a fraternity. Is that a good idea? The fraternities at this school aren't like the one's you typically think of when you hear the word "fraternity" either. They're clean

  1. If you have a personality like me, then it won't be hard for you to meet new people.  You have to the one in class that answers all the questions the professor ask, the one that makes the funny comments when the professor asks a stupid question...and LORD they will do that.  You have to be a people person.  Make sure you ask lots of questions too.  That's the way I got in good with the professors.  Some of my past professors are now my best friends.  I also go to a small university.  That's the best for meeting really good people.  You will also more than likely have classes with the same people each semester.....usually your major classes and take the same professors over and over.  Usually, though, you want to do that if you make A's with them the first time....you try to take ALL of their classes...lol.  That seems to be the way it works for me.

  2. That is a very small college...

Everyone else there is probably in the same situation as you so just sit next to someone on the first day and start talking to them. You could also join a fraternity or a club to make friends. I think it will happen much easier than you think so don't stress out about it.
