The way the things are currently run, they can only do so much. It's up to the consumers (us) and the job market to determine our spending and money cycles.

the fed as it stands today is harming us more than helping us.  a return to a simple currency with a stable value backed by hard assets would promote a dramatic turn around in the US economy
