Question:

How effective is VCF (vaginal contraceptive film)?

I haven't used the pill since April b/c it was causing me to have heart problems (all of which are better now). My husband and I have been using condoms, but we both hate them. He says it "feels like having s*x with a plastic bag" and they make me itch/burn.

I don't care if it's "99% effective" like the pill. Our chances of conception are already lowered b/c he has vericoceles. And if I were to get pregnant, we'd be happy with that too. We actually "tried" last month and weren't successful. But now we're thinking we'd like to get settled into a house before I get pregnant. Opinions? And how effective is vaginal contraceptive film. It doesn't say on the box. Thanks.

  1. The FDA says the rate of pregnancy for people using spermicides (such as VCF) is about 26%. You can also get other stats at Planned Parenthood's website.
