How effective is a karate chop can it knock someone out

Actually many style's employee this technique, so techniquely it is not a "karate" chop. lol As for your question yes it is very much possible to knock somebody out with this move if you have trained it repeatedly. A beginer would more then likely just break bones in there hand. This strike is routinly used to break bricks and concrete blocks, so yeah, it can be dangerous.

it could(if you hit the right spot hard enough) but if you dont do it right you could just hurt you hand. you are better of just punching that way you are less likely to hurt yourself and it will probably hurt them more. also you wont knock anyone out with a karate chop unless you know how and where to hit or you are extremely lucky.

You don't have to knock somebody out to incapacitate them.

There are some prominent bones that are very easy to break with a chop. Breaking these bones will incapacitate a person.

A knife hand to the right spot can easily kill somebody.

If she didn't know what she was doing or where to hit, she might just end up with a bruise on her hand (maybe a sprained wrist too!)
