  1. That's  your homework,not mine.

  2. When any thing uses electricity, energy is wasted. This is because nothing can be 100% efficient. So some energy is always going to be wasted. As I'm sure you know energy can't be destroyed or created. The wasted energy is no longer useful and escapes into the atmosphere and into space. The electric energy is wasted because of friction. The electric energy is transformed into heat and sound when friction occurs.

    Hope this helps.

  3. If you're talking about specifics:

    It's usually heat

If you turn on a light bulb the two end product would be light and heat. The heat is not harnessed.

If you're talking in the general sense:

Unecessary light or TV are turned on

    Non-energy saving lightbulbs are used

Old houses may not use insulation lofting,etc....

I'm sure you can find plenty of examples around the house

  4. One of the main contributing factors that causes a lot of energy waste - gas/electric/oil/coal wood etc is the heating of homes that are not (at least) double glazed.

There are many millions of properties in the UK alone that use twice the energy needed.

Please view my online Downing Street Petition for full details - a definite plus for your homework..

    Good luck.

  5. I live in South Africa where we have had some of the cheapest electricity in the world due to our large coal reserves. Currently we are experiencing a power crisis due to a lack of maintenance and development of the existing energy infrastructure during the transition period from the apartheid gov to the new government.

I am currently a consultant in the energy sector providing information to clients on energy efficient lighting, solar water heating systems and power monitoring and control equipment.

I have identified that the biggest energy waster is the poor practices of people in the workplace and at home. You can retrofit a company with energy efficient products and technologies however your biggest energy savings come from educating and awarness campaigns for your staff or family.

  6. The biggest culprit is Houses with back gardens facing North East and South. As you go along (take note) between 5 & 6:pm , and look at the way the houses are facing. See back gardens get no sun. When building or buying always be sure to have a WEST facingn back garden. This is when everyone is home from work and like to relax as well as the children after school. Also I note Windows, see how the windows are facing and there seems to be more walls than windows. This adds to the problem of cold houses thus using anyform of energy to heat it. I would advise have large windows to trap the sun. A house built to suit the pockets of the owner not the visual environment.Saves massive bills too.

  7. Try this page about energy from EERE
