Im building a box for my 10" MTX sub and have recently decided to build a sealed box over the ported one i recently designed due to limmited space issues. (The size changes from 1.5 to .75 cubic feet which helps me with my space limitations.) My current perdicament is that my new plans have added up to .8 cubic feet and i was wondering if that .05 cubic feet will deminish my sound quality because that my main concern.

  1. No, you will hear no difference in sound.  One of the main benefits of a sealed enclosure is that they are very forgiving.  You can be off by more and still hear no difference or not much of a difference.

Also, for sealed enclosures larger enclosures will have better SQ.  There is a reduction in power handling but for this small of a difference it won't matter anyways.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. As a sealed enclosure is made smaller what occurs is that the power handling increase while low frequency extension deminishes. Eg. The sub can now take more power from the amp but it won't go as deep as it would with a larger enclosure.

  3. Probably not. Especially if you haven't allowed for basket (speaker)displacement.
