I'm confused, do I flush it out by inserting the syringe into the socket or do I just squirt the syringe into the general area?

  1. Why are you flushing out the socket in the first place?  The best thing to do is to leave it alone if there is no problem.  Only give a general flush in the area if some food particle is sticking out of it or something and it is bugging your tongue.  Otherwise don't flush out the socket.  it will heal up just fine if you leave it alone.

  2. Also a way that works just swish salt water!

             GROSS but affective!!

  3. I think you just slowly squirt water (or whatever you're using) into the socket. You don't want to inject yourself, and you don't want to spray at high pressure either.

  4. You're supposed to put the syringe into the socket. Don't jam it in there though, you might tear out your stitches. Just lightly place it into the socket and squirt the water into it.

That's what my dentist told me when I got mine out, and it worked really well, no infections or anything.
