  1. dont worry about it mate

when waves are weak and small pump your chick

and save your energy for decent surf

  2. Generally you have to push the front, or nose area, up and down with your leg to generate some additional speed, though in small waves it is difficult to get much of an increase.  Check out the link below for some help and visual ideas.

  3. I pump the nose both up and down and back and forth almost the same way you might pump a skateboard for speed.  Up and down helps get you through the section when the wave starts to die out and you want to catch the reform.  Back and forth gets your speed up so you can jam a maneuver on a lip or get some air, and so you can make sections that are closing in front of you.  The way I do the back and forth motion frontside is to throw my weight into the face with short jabs, then quickly throw it out and down on the face and then do it again.  It might look a little jerky but it does build the speed up.

  4. You put the "R" in the wrong place in BOARD!!!

Adjust your position and pump with feeling for larger wave formations...

Other answerers seem to think "pumping the nose up and down and side to side" works, but this is definitely not true and will lead to a lot of complications....maybe even hospitalisation if you're too aggressive and you get a bad reaction!

Nice question...didn't think it would be allowed!!
