so, I've really been wanting to do the PostSecret thing, but I have no idea how to "make my own postcard" like do I just get an actual photo, write my secret on it, write the address on the back and mail it in? And do I mail it in an envelope or just the postcard itself? Haha, sorry if I sound totally clueless right now!

  1. The directions for doing this used to be on the website but I just looked and they are not. Odd! I guess Frank figures everyone knows how to do it.

I've done this several times so...

You need a 5x7 (as it shrinks upon scanning) sheet of anything mailable (cardboard - thick or thin, cover of a book, anything the post office will actually except and something sturdy enough that it won't get destroyed in the mail)

Write, design, color, whatever on one side of the card.

Be sure if you glue anything on the card it is secured down because cards often get ripped in the process and make for confusing cards if they are posted.

If you mail it in an envelope, it is highly unlikely that it will be opened by Frank as I think he assumes you don't want the secret to be seen by anyone. Occassionally, I have seen unopened envelopes on the site but they usually have something written on the envelope to say "This is the last letter he sent me" or something of the like.

On the opposite side of the postcard, put the address below (in the middle is fine) and a stamp at the top right hand corner.

Remember though that Frank receives thousands of cards a day and posts just 12 every week so the chances of yours getting on there are low and of it getting on there quickly are even lower. I've sent four cards in the last few years and onbly one has been posted.

Sometimes, though, just sending it in is a release.

    Good luck
