  1. Baby powder reduces "plastic-on-plastic" friction. This works for about an hour...try graphite powder from a hardware store instead. Turn your cube about halfway in all directions, one section at a time. Pour powder on the exposed black sections and start twisting. The powder will adhere to the metal ball joints inside causing a smoother bond that won't cake up.

  2. i would use lubricant instead, much better and faster

  3. What the first answerer said is true, but NEVER lubricate a rubik's cube with baby powder. But also you should never use graphite, petroleum jelly, or vaseline. There are tutorials on how to lubricate it with all of these, but it is a very bad idea. I recommend (as well as pretty much all people who cube) using silicone spray. You can usually buy it at Walmart. I've heard that the CRC brand is good (although I use a different brand).

I know what I'm talking about because I can solve the rubik's cube in under 20 seconds, and I've looked at numerous pages that say that silicone spray is good. I've been doing this for around 2 years now.

  4. the liquid lubricant turns into powder after a while. maybe that's why. use crc heavy duty though
