  1. hearts in 808 is totally right at least that's what i get from my brother and my bff football player of like 12 or 13 years

they are supposed to pull the sun away from the eyes because you know black attracts sun light that way it is easier to see when playing and i think i have heard the the tape strips work better...but i would say 9 outta ten guys just do it to look mean

  2. Great question!  It's supposed to reduce glare from the sun or bright lights (in theory), so a player can see a little better and won't have to squint in bright lights.

It's debatable whether or not it actually works though (or if you really even need it when playing football).  There's some info about it on Wikipedia citing a study that claims the stick works and the strips don't .....  but most guys just do it because they think it looks cool or makes them look tough.

  3. It Supposedly works by deflecting light away from the eyes.

My Son has played Football for 6 years, he says the strips are irritating and they itch...so WHEN he wears the black (which isn't often, he says it doesn't help him...sometimes he just wears it to LOOK meaner when we play a good team) under his eyes it is the Stick~~Aloha~~

  4. they make the make the top of your vision seem brighter so the sun isn't as bright

  5. well ist not paint but like a strip of black adhesive tape . It is used to block the sun .
