How exactly does pancreatic amylase help transfer starch into maltose?

i know amylase "catalyzes" the reaction that changes starch to maltose...BUT HOW?!?! your help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks.

  1. well...amylase is used for breaking down the starch (long chain of carbohidrate) into smaller unit (disaccharides or monosaccharide). Now one of the example of disaccharides is maltose (glucose+glucose). That's it.
