  1. Obviously, it depends on where you go to eat. If you're not in the immediate tourist area you can usually find more than decent meals at very reasonable prices. Check the menus posted outside the restaurants. In Prague, the restaurants in the Old Town Square and along the main path Charles Bridge are higher priced. there are some good places on Kampa Island. You only have to walk a couple of blocks off the main tourist streets to find good spots. If you walk from the Old Town Square through the alley to the left of the Our Lady of Tyn church, there's a pretty good restaurant with a couple of outdoor tables before you get to the next square. There are also several sausage stands around the city where you can get something quick, relatively cheap, and good. There is a very inexpensive Tex-Mex place that one of my Italian friends likes, but I don't look for that kind of food in Prague myself. I have rarely spent over 30 euro for a meal in Prague.

It's been a couple of years since I've been in Budapest, but the prices in most places seemed quite good to me. I was on a quest for the best goulash and didn't find any that I didn't like. There were a couple of excellent soups to look for - chestnut in one place and cherry in another.

Vienna is pricier than the other two, but not outrageously so. The Sacher Cafe is fairly expensive. There are several casual places where you can eat for roughly 30 euro or less and many more from 30 to 50 euro or so.

  2. In Budapest no more that $45 for a very good quality
