I will arrive at Rome Termini and need to get within two blocks (Termini side) of the Colosseo. Approximately how much will a taxi cost? 2 people, 2 small suitcases.

  1. It's cheaper to take the train to Roma Termini and then take the metro to the Colosseum stop, but you may be more comfortable taking a cab from Roma Termini.

Taxis in all of Italy are pretty expensive. The fare depends on how far you go, how long it takes, what area(s) of Rome you travel in, whether you have baggage and how much, and what time of day it is. See: http://www.romeguide.it/taxi_ing.htm

for the rules. It's about 0.78 euro per km if you stay inside the ring road and are moving at a speed above 20 km/hr ... plus the initial minimum charge. At lower speeds there's a charge based on time.

  2. it will be around 10 euro

  3. Hello,

This fare should be less than 10 euros including the luggage supliment.  Make sure you take a taxi from the taxi rank and not from someone who offers you a taxi ride.  These are the scammers and will charge you double or triple what the actual fee should be.  Make sure they turn on the meter as soon as they get in the car.  You can ask them what the fare should be before you get into the cab and if it is more than 10 euros decline the ride.  If you arrive at night there will also be a night supliment but it won't add more than 3 euros to your fare.
