  1. It's not cheap that is for sure if you want to live in the centre of Amsterdam, even for a one bedroom apartment

The area's with shops and cafe's are endless but I assume you mean right in the centre

You can look at http://www.funda.nl to get an idea (although it is only in Dutch.

The price for an apartment with 50 m3 or less range from €134,000 (which is a one room 30m3 including bedroom & living room apartment but not the best area for cafes/shops) right up to €329,000 for a 40m3 apartment with one bedroom and one living room which is more central)

A two room apartment on Oudezijds Achterburgwal is advertised as €224,500 and Spuistraat as €212,000

You can see the list (based on the search parameters mentioned) here, sorted on cheapest price http://www.funda.nl/WoningAanbod/Koop/Re...  Click on the "kaart"option on the left to see the location.

Note this is just the basic price, you will need to add approx 10% on top for all the fees for estate agents (realtors), legal fees etc etc
