Question:

How expensive is a week in Paris?

My fiance and I will be going to Paris for our honeymoon. We have already calculated cost of the flight and hotel but we are wondering how expensive transportation and dining are. Is it affordable to take the metro everywhere? Are taxis expensive? What is an appropriate price to pay for a nice meal for two. How about a quick lunch?

Any other info is welcome!

  1. FROM EXPERIENCE,.... but metro passe's as u need them unless u are going to do allot of metro passes then buy the 5 day at the airport where u buy the ticket (train) to the city . The RER,.. u can buy all you need there and charge it all at once. Near the St Paul Metro there are FAB places to eat cheap off/on the street /baguettes with ham and cheese about 3 Euros. Also there are crepe stands all over and good and cheap with iether cheese and meant of chocolate sauce,. mmmm   good!  But GET what u need at the Super Marche (grocery stores) they are all over. a nice meal in Arr  4-5. Called the Latin Quarter across the river Seine. Arr 2-3 is where all the fun stuff is and remember SUNDAY there is nothing open - maybe a few store in the g*y district.  Trendy stores and fun to wlak about - buy your apples and other stuff - wine too - at the super marche! And DO go and see the largest flea market in the world! It phenomenal and has EVERYTHING imaginable,.. have fun!! Paris is great. email memre if u have anyother ???

  2. it depends on wat u do

  3. The metro is easily affordable. A "carnet" of ten tickets costs 11.10 euros making each ticket 1.11 euros. You can also buy a single day pass called a "Mobilis" for 5.60 euros.

Taxi prices are comparable to other large cities.

    Meal prices vary enormously.

A three course meal with a glass of wine in a little restaurant on the Rue Mouffetard in the Latin Quarter can be as little as 10-12 euros per person.

Dinner at the Taillevent costs 190 euros per person for the prix fix "discovery menu." and does not include the cost of wine.

My own favorite little restaurant is La Methode at 2 rue Descarte where dinner for two with three courses, cocktail before dinner,  a carafe of wine and coffee after runs 60-70  euros (30-35 per person).

  4. I think I spent less than one thousand when I went for one person including souvenirs.  I am fairly low maintenance though.  I took the metro everywhere or walked (best way to see Paris).  Their metro is perfection.

I bought wine and sandwiches a few times to bring back to my hotel or you could bring that to look at the Eiffel Tower at night (romantic).  Quick lunch, hit a crepe stand or again, there are sandwich shops all over.  I also ate at a chain one day that had pre-maid sandwiches and soups that you went thru a line and asked for.  It was very good.

Have a great trip!  I loved Paris.
