living costs and tuition. I pay about 4 thousand out of my pocket right now and fafsa pays the other 4 each semester. So I spend about 8 grand a year out of my pocket.

  1. For a resident Canadian to go to College would probably cost around the same. I got to college and my tuition is just around 2 g's per semester plus another 2 for living expenses. I think it is a lot more expensive for non-canadian residents to attend a Canadian college.

  2. Just like in the States, the tuition varies between schools and the cost of living depends on the location in Canada. Keep in mind that most schools apply an 'international student fee'. Some fees are so slight it's hardly an issue while other fees can double the tuition that Canadian students pay.  If the Canadian school is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education - and most are - you're still eligible for the Stafford Loan and your parents are eligible for the Parents PLUS loan.  Be cautious about your terminology because the terms 'college' and 'university' are not interchangable in Canada like they are in the U.S. For a bachelors degree you'll want to look at Canadian universities.  The website below will provide you with all the information you need... an explanation on how the educational systems differ between the two countries, search engines to find Canadian schools by major or location, a resource to connect with other students attending school in Canada, how to find out if your school is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, and even a 'suggested packing list'. Good luck and enjoy the journey.
