  1. at the moment everything is pretty expensive for Americans as the exchange rate is very bad.Plus the increase in Fuel prices  Plus the increase in house prices it is becoming a very expensive place.I would wait until next year if i was you as we have a very greedy chancellor with Gordon Brown pulling his strings.Perhaps after your elections the dollar may improve and possibly bring down our prices,..Lets hope so as we have a lot of disallutioned young people leaving our country.

  2. Depends where you go. If you go to a top restaurant it'll be expensive. Like the US.

  3. I'm a dual citizen....and I think its all your prices +10 to 30%.

But now that I live in Copenhagen, going to the UK seems like going to Thailand....

  4. Depends on where abouts you are. central london is expensive as it is all geered up for tourists. its a great place to be. I live here and i Love ITTTT.. just keepa hold of your bag lol.

  5. as a rough guide, it's probably double what you are paying for stuff in the States.

Items you can buy in the States for say maybe $10 will cost £10 here, and because £1=$2  everythign is basically double.

  6. Down south it is quite expensive so if ur on a budget then go further north...Birmingham, liverpool newcastle etc...farr cheaper and better in my opinion for a night out and you wont get AS ripped off

    PUB n cafes

    Beer - £2.50, Wine - £3.00 a glass, Coffee - £1.00, Soft drinks - £1.10, Tea - £1.10.

dinner will be around £20 - £30 for 2 ppl depending on where ya go.

trains are still quite cheap by us....£1.50 return into city centre

Buses a bit dearer now...£3 for all day ticket

In Birmingham most of the museums and art galleries are free as are alot of other attractions...

Hope you enjoy Brighton but expect to go home skint

  7. please come to swindon

  8. I live in Brighton and have to say it is quite expensive, especially if your losing on the dollar.

For the bus, an open end ticket which you can use as much as you like for the day is £3.20. The cost of the train depends on how far you're travelling. From Heathrow to Brighton its about £25. If you're travelling locally its only a few pound.

Drinks in pubs range from about £1.20 for a soft drink to £3.00 approx for a pint.

You can find some cheap places to eat if you're starting to run short. On North St there are loads of cheap Indian and Italian places with all you can eat for £5. For the money the food is pretty nice. Plus there are loads and loads of fish and chip shops (you have to have chips on the beach! The weather is gorgeous at the moment!) Plus if you're veggie you'll be spoilt for choice.

The shopping is amazing though, with loads of really nice indie shops in the lanes.  You'll love it.

  9. going to the pub- well a pint of lager is about £3 these days, as is a shot of say, vodka?

so works out quite expensive if you plan on drinking all evening?

not sure about train tickets, it depends on where your going/how far the journey is etc?

all in all tho, England is BLOODY expensive at the moment!

  12. i lived in london for 10 years and anywere down south is expensive.

a beer is gonna cost you about 4.00pound.

if you go to london for the day the cheapest way to get around is to buy a one day travel card which gives you unlimited travel on the tube and buses.

try the witherspoon pub group. they always have cheap deals on food and drink. there is one in brighton. walkabout bar is always great for a laugh...(if you dont mind drinking with ozzies...lol).

brighton is a great place and im sure you will have an awesome time....
