Good morning every body... A little about me first I was diagnosed with endometrium hyperplasia about 6 months ago and put on the depo shot for treatment. After a couple of months of the depo shot I started bleeding again and the doctor come to the conclusion that he was not going to be able to control the bleeding and I would need a hysterectomy... I kept getting the depo shot while in waiting for the hysterectomy and the bleeding went away. 2 weeks later I was to go into surgery. I did show up for the surgery my got bumped for a emergency surgery on a little girl. After waiting several hours for the surgery I finally backed out.

Anyways I saw the doctor yesterday and he said since I still was not bleeding it has been a month now then if I did not want to have the surgery then we don't have to. I told him I was not ready to give up my uterous because I may still want a baby but ALL of the treatments for this condition prevents pregnancy. He said we can try a fertility treatment instead.

So here is my question. What does the fertility treatment consist of and how expensive is it. I am affraid if it is too expensive then I may just have to move on and have the hysterectomy because all doors will be closed to having a baby anyways...

Any ideas....

  1. I'm very surprised that you went from being on the depo shot to being told to have a hysterectomy. Seems like they didn't try any of the interim treatments, like progesterone supplements etc. Did you have a biopsy? Can your doctor do laser laparascopic treatment to lessen the condition? There are some versions where a hysterectomy is the best option, but it sounds like you're not quite there (certainly if they're now talking about you NOT having surgery).

First, I'd get a second opinion. You're entitled to it and this is not a decision to rush into. Then get the costs in your area for IVF which is the most likely fertility treatment. Generally it's $10,000, but each area of the country has various laws about which infertility treatments must be legally included in insurance policies. I live in NH for example, and nothing is covered, but next week I move to Ohio and they have a mandatory law that says all fertility diagnostics must be covered, which will include an endometrial laparoscopy (which is what I need) so be sure to check out all of that stuff too.

    Good luck!!!

  2. Please see two more doctors.

I think there was a good reason you got booted because of the little girls surgery. Everything happens for a reason.

There are many new treatments out there for hyperplasia.

Do some research yourself. Try web md and many others.

The more you know will help you when you see the doctor on your options.

Now in the end it may come to you having the surgery. And that is fine also. When one door closes other doors open. It may be gods plan to have you adopt or have a child with an other person. Heck you just never know. Just try to relax and read more and more.
