How expensive would a call to Mexico be without a phone card or some kind of plan be?

I was going to call my friend's new cell phone. He just moved to Mexico, but I don't know how much it will be to call him. Does calling a cell phone make any significant difference?

I’m guessing it varies from phone company to phone company, but what would be the average cost per minute?

Hello Miss. I have a friend who told lives in Mexico and works in the USA. He calls his wife on his Verizon cell phone and it costs somewhere between 10 cents per minute and 15 cents per minute. There is a good quality connection.

You can definitely use a phone card to make cheaper calls even when calling from your house phone or your cell phone. Just remember that you will use your cell phone plan minutes in either case.

Use Yahoo search for the word "phone cards" with no quotes and you will see a good list of companies selling phone cards. I personally use Speedypin, but have a look. Just be very careful of the fees! Some cards look really good, but they will get you with all of the additional fees. So, make sure the company lists all card information, phone numbers, and preferably has a GUARANTEE (not many do).
