How fair is it to teach creationism in schools?

Here's the process that evolution went through to be taught in schools/sciene class:

Observation → Hypothesis → Experiment → Repeat Experiment → Sumbit For Peer Reviews → Editor Writes Back → Revision takes place → Retest → Re-submit (10% chance of being published) → If Published, other scientists (hoping to disprove) analyze your results for years, seeing if they get inconsistent results → After many years, and many trials, the scientific community may accept it → Becomes a Theory → Taught in schools

Evolution went through all those steps and is now being taught in schools. The National Academy of Sciences declared it as the unifying theory of biology since it brings together all the science disciplines. Also, there is currently no debate among the scientific community regarding evolution and whether it is true or not. Remember that scientists are always trying to disprove theories, and there is nothing yet against evolution.

Now, why is it fair to teach creationism? Just because the majority of America is Christian? What is the majority was Hindu? Would we teach those beliefs in school too? Why should we, after all there is no evidence and those beliefs aren't even accepted as theories.

If creationism went through the same process, and is considered a good enough theory, I'd think it would be fair to be taught in schools. But, as you can see, its not and did not go through the same proccess. So, what are your thoughts?

  1. Works for me...

To the Creationists, the Native Americans have many creation stories, should we teach each of them? They have lived here a lot longer than we have and their beliefs are just as old if not older...

It's not my intenetion to slight anyones beliefs as they are important to them. It is just an illustration...

  2. I sure hope not. Creationism is far fetched, and evolution has hard evidence to back it up, whereas creationism has nothing besides the writings in a book. If that were the case in schools, I would move to another country.

  3. 100%- they should teach creation (true). if they are going to teach evolution.

  4. Creationism has no testable hypothesis.  Hence there is no evidence to review to support its premises.

  5. It is not fair OR right.

Creation has no science, and should not EVER be taught alongside evolution. Not only that, but if you have to spend time teaching *all* the different creation stories, there will be no time to learn any actual science. You can't just teach the creation stories of one religion, you'd have to teach them all.

If you want your kid to learn that c**p, send them to a private school or teach them at home. You will do your kid a great injustice, but hey, at least YOU will be happy.

  6. Creationism is religious. Separation of church and state. It should only be taught in private Christian schools. That's my opinion.

  7. It is never fair to bombard my IQ with stupidity.
