How far a drive is cincinatti from the Kentucky Derby?

I'm gonna start going to the Kentucky on a regular basis(yearly obviously) and i want to stay and check out cinci since it's a lot bigger than Lexington.....i'm just wondering if it's 1 hour 3 hours?? any help would be appreciated.....also could u recommend a high priced hotel in cinci...or a certain area that is hip/cool and safe?

It's about an hour and a half.  I made the drive last year a couple of times... it's really not bad except that Kentucky has a lot of hills so you're constantly revving the engine to get up the hills... it's not the most gas-friendly state ;o)

Newport Kentucky is right across the river from Cincinnati and it's a pretty cool place.  It's a family area with a mall and movie theater and a lot of good food places.  It's safe and I'm sure they have hotels.

Clifton is the cool neighborhood in Cinci.  That's where all the music clubs are anyway.  The hour and a half estimate seems about right.
