  1. Domestic feline gestation is 65-67 days with 63 days being a normal minimum and 69 days being a normal maximum.  Unfortunately, the only sure sign kittens are imminent is a drop in the queen's body temperature, not an easy thing to measure.

She can get milk in up to a week before the kittens are due or not until just before birth.  BTW, she will not ooze milk.  The teats will become more prominent and the fur will appear to be growing away from them.

A few days before birth up until birth, she will exhibit nesting behavior and restlessness and, maybe, go in and out of the litter pan.  We like to give our queens a cardboard "jumbo" storage box (10" X 16" X 26") with some old sheeting and/or toweling for her "den" for birthing.  This should be kept in a quiet draft free place with no access by young children or other pets.

A couple of days before birth, the kittens should "drop", i.e. move lower in the abdomen, and form hard little knots.

She may have some mucousy/bloody discharge up to a week before birth or, it may not start until she is ready to go into labor.

A few hours before birth he water may break, or it may break just before birth.
