How far and how much and how long is the train journey from sorrento to rome?

I was on it a few years ago.  It doesn't cost much, takes about 1.30 if I remember correctly, but it's d**n hot.  If (like us) you don't get a seat, you won't enjoy it much.  I remember hanging in the aisle waiting for the wind to rush down the middle of the train.

If youre going Sorrento to Rome you should take the local train from Sorrento into Napoli Centrale, then get on any number of trains to Roma Termini.  The time from Sorrento to Napoli is about an hour, the trip from Napoli to Roma depends on the type of train you get on.  Could be as little as 3.5 hours for the whole trip if you plan it well.

I checked on raileurope.com and it's between 2 1/2 to 3+ hours from Salerno to Rome. Salerno is the closest large stop to Sorrento -- could not locate any rail stops in Sorrento.
