  1. you might be interested to know that the reason for the 100mm dia ball test is intended to prevent children from being able to push their heads through.


  2. Less than 100mm (ie 99mm)

    The test used to be 'to prevent the passage of a 100mm sphere'. Railings therefore are normally spec'd at 100mm centres. Refer Part K of the building regs. The minimum height is also controlled (1100mm).
